Tangoheart: The Piazzolla Show

7:30 PM
The Royal Room, 5000 Rainier Ave S, Seattle
Reserve tickets at reservations@theroyalroomseattle.com Advance tickets $15; $20 at door.

By the time of his death in 1992, Astor Piazzolla had soared to the top of the world music scene with his modern fusion of Argentine tango, Baroque counterpoint, jazz harmony and improvisation. Today a few of his pieces (Libertango, Oblivion, and Adios Nonino, for example) are performed often. But so many of his most exciting works have remained fallow, since their performance demands a clear stylistic understanding of traditional Argentine tango and the inclusion of his iconic instrument - the bandoneon. For that, Tangoheart Quintet is one of the rare North American groups that can deliver. We are proud to present a concert focused on the remarkable music of Astor Piazzolla.
